The Cruise Book is an American Naval Tradition. From the earliest days of America’s Navy, each vessel has compiled a record of its sailings, and the contribution the crew has made to the success of their vessel’s mission. Originally the ship’s log book served as that record.

Today, this valuable historical record is known as the CRUISE BOOK. While preserving a record of the “who, where and why” of each deployment, the cruise book has become an effective tool for building pride and morale. Family members find the cruise book an overview of what happened while their loved one was away from Home Port. Retired Naval veterans return to their cruise books to recall their time at sea, and to share memories with shipmates when they meet for reunions.

Because the cruise book has great importance, it is imperative that the Cruise Book Committee select a publisher that is focused and committed to supporting the publishing effort, from initial planning through final delivery of the book.

Consider the quality of the production capabilities of the publisher. The kind of prepress process, printing presses and bindery equipment has a major impact on whether or not the book becomes a coffee table quality publication.
